Stickles Elected to CEDC Board

(June 26, 2018) – The Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) Board of Directors has elected Brian D. Stickles to the Board. Stickles is Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending and Business Development at the Bank of Greene County, having held positions of increasing responsibility in this department over the last eleven years.  He specializes in providing commercial loan products to business customers and individuals in Columbia County and surrounding area.

Boston-based Drumlin Field Ventures to open brandy distillery in Claverack; promises 25 new local jobs

(June 18, 2018) – A Boston-based company plans to open a farm and brandy distillery in the coming years that will create two dozen new jobs. Empire State Development, the state’s economic development initiative, announced June 1 that Drumlin Field Ventures will establish a field-to-glass brandy distillery and tasting room on 182 acres of farm property off the intersection of state Route 23 and county Route 27. The company plans to produce apple and grape brandies using fruit from trees and vines planted on the grounds.

State Agriculture Commissioner Announces $17 Million To Protect and Preserve Water Quality Across New York

(June 6, 2018) – State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today announced $17 million is available to protect and conserve critical soil and water resources on farms across New York State. Grants provided through the Agricultural Nonpoint Source Abatement and Control Program will help farmers address water quality challenges in priority watersheds by supporting strategic environmental planning and the implementation of best management practices.
